S35VN is a premium martensitic stainless steel designed for high-end knife steel and cutting tool applications. It is widely used in EDC knives, folding knives, and precision cutting tools, thanks to its excellent balance of toughness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.
This grade is engineered with vanadium (V), which forms fine carbides and improves edge stability and wear resistance. Compared with traditional stainless steels, S35VN offers better toughness and improved machinability, making it easier to process while maintaining high performance.

Heat to around 900°C, hold, then slow cool to relieve stress and improve machinability.
Preheat to 845-870°C, then austenitize at 1035-1095°C, followed by air orpressure quenching to achieve high hardness.
Double temper at 200-400°C to improve hardness stability, toughness, and wearresistance.
