Spray Forming PM30 High-Speed Steel (ASP2030) is a high-performance cobalt-alloy tool steel designed for applications that require extreme wear resistance, high hardness, and excellent toughness.

The steel is produced using advanced spray forming technology, a process that rapidly solidifies molten metal droplets to create a fine and uniform microstructure. This structure contains evenly distributed granular carbides, which significantly improves cutting stability, wear resistance, and tool life.

Compared with conventional high-speed steels, Spray Forming PM30 offers higher hardness stability, superior wear resistance, and better toughness. Priniple of Spray Forming

  • First, the raw materials are heated into molten metal, and then gas atomized.

  • Under the action of the gas jet, the droplets are accelerated to fly and rapidly cooled.

  • When the high-speed flying droplets collide in the precipitator, the spherical particles are impacted. It becomes flat to form a sputtering sheet.

  • The particles solidify rapidly through the cooling effect of the precipitator, and accumulate and form under the action of self- fluxing.

Spray Forming HSS PM30 Heat Treatment Process

Annealing

Softens the steel to about HB 280, relieving internal stresses and improving machinability before hardening.

Quenching

Heat to 1150–1180°C, followed by rapid cooling to obtain high hardness and excellent wear resistance.

Tempering

Temper at 540–570°C to balance hardness and toughness. Final hardness reaches 65–68 HRC.
