Spray Forming M2 High-Speed Steel is produced using advanced spray forming technology, creating a fine microstructure with evenly distributed carbides. This improves wear resistance and cutting stability.

Compared with conventional M2, spray forming M2 offers better hardness stability, higher wear resistance, and good toughness. It also reduces carbide segregation and improves tool reliability.

It is widely used for high-precision cutting tools, industrial tooling, and wear-resistant mechanical parts.

Priniple of Spray Forming
  • First, the raw materials are heated into molten metal, and then gas atomized.

  • Under the action of the gas jet, the droplets are accelerated to fly and rapidly cooled.

  • When the high-speed flying droplets collide in the precipitator, the spherical particles are impacted. It becomes flat to form a sputtering sheet.

  • The particles solidify rapidly through the cooling effect of the precipitator, and accumulate and form under the action of self- fluxing.

Spray Forming HSS M2 Heat Treatment Process

Annealing

Softens the steel to about HB 255, relieving internal stress and improving machinability.

Quenching

Heat to 1180–1205°C, then rapidly cool to obtain high hardness and wear resistance.

Tempering

Temper at 540–570°C to balance hardness and toughness. Final hardness is 64–66 HRC.
