M7 Heat Treatment Process

Annealing

Softens M7 steel (HB ~255), reduces internal stresses, and enhances machinability prior to hardening.

Quenching

Heat to 1190–1220 °C followed by rapid cooling to achieve high hardness and wear resistance.

Tempering

Post-quenching tempering at approximately 550 °C balances hardness and toughness while alleviating residual stresses.
