1.2360 tool steel (EN: X48CrMoV8-1-1) is a high-performance cold work tool steel designed for demanding industrial applications. It is widely used in blanking dies, punching tools, forming dies, shear blades, and wear-resistant components.

Heat to 780–820°C, then cool slowly in the furnace. Annealed hardness: ≤230 HB.
Heat to 1000–1050°C, then oil quench, air cool, or salt bath quench. Hardness after quenching: 58–60 HRC.
Temper at 150–200°C for at least 1 hour. Double tempering is recommended to improve toughness and stability.
