Annealing

Softens DF52 / *W2Mo5Cr4V2CoW2Mo5Cr4V2Co (M52 Modify) steel (HB ~255), reduces internal stresses, and improves machinability before hardening.

Quenching

Heat to 1180–1210°C, followed by rapid cooling to achieve high hardness and wear resistance. This process locks in the steel’s high-performance characteristics.

Tempering

Post-quenching tempering at approximately 550°C balances hardness and toughness while relieving residual stresses, resulting in a final hardness of 63–65 HRC.
